Listing Commercial Females with HerfNet

It’s free and easy to include your Hereford influenced commercial heifers and cows in the HerfNet database. All you need to do is submit important information relative to the quantity, quality and location of your commercial females and how you prefer to sell those cattle. We’ll compile that information, fax a weekly summary to the AHA field staff and transfer your seller information to the on-line list of available commercial females.

Please remember that HerfNet is not an online auction. And, while there’s no commitment or commission on your part, neither is there any guarantee that HerfNet buyers will contact you or bid on your cows or heifers.

Filling out the Form:

Since you’re already at our website, you might find our electronic enrollment form the most convenient way of telling us about your available Hereford influenced commercial females. If you or ranchers you know would prefer to send in your information by mail or fax, you can do so by downloading a hard-copy of our Commercial Female Enrollment Form and sending it to the following address:

Seller Information

The first section of the form deals with who owns the cattle and who will serve as the representative when negotiating their sale. If you are the actual owner of the cattle and prefer to receive all buyer inquiries, be sure to include your contact information in both the owner and representative entry blanks. Alternatively, if you have someone you use to negotiate the price and weigh up conditions for your cattle, list their name, phone number and other contact information in the spaces provided for the representative information.

Only the ranch name, city and state of the owner will appear on our internet listing. Therefore if you want to serve as the contact, you must include at least your name and phone number as the representative.

Genetic/Age Description

Number of Head: HerfNet only accepts commercial female groups of 10 head or larger.

Class: The HerfNet commercial female listing is designed to allow buyers to sort heifers and cows based on their age and pregnancy status. Please specify the nature of the females you wish to sell as one group. If you are selling more than one class and can sell them separate, it’s best to complete a separate enrollment form for each class of females. If you do not wish to sell your females under separate listings, classified the group as "Mixed Ages" and then describe the content of that group in the general comments section of the form.

Home Raised: Answer yes (Y) only if all females in the listing were born on your operation.

Breed Description: Describe the approximate make-up of the collective group of cattle you are intending to sell. If a percentage of the cattle are crossbreds of Hereford and an English, Exotic, Brahman or other breed type, indicate what percentage of the females in your selling group are of that cross and list the breed or breeds with which they are crossed. For example, a group of females sired by a Hereford bull used over Braford cows would be represented, as 100% Hereford x Brahman and the Brahman breed would be Braford.

Genetic Comments: Include information about the bloodlines of these commercial females if available. Remember, this listing is for commercial females so a general description is appropriate.

Breeding Status

Breeding Dates/Sires/Comments: In this space include comments about the genetic make-up of the calves these heifers or cows are carrying at the time of sale. Pedigree information relating to the commercial females themselves should be included in the "Genetic Comments" box in the previous section.

Condition

In this section, generally describe the physical condition of the females in your listing group. The "Vaccination History" and "General Comments" boxes should be used to elaborate on any specific health or wealth conditions that would affect the value of the females.

First Available Date: All cattle listed with HerfNet are assumed to be for immediate sale even though they may not be actually shipped until a later date. In this space indicate the earliest date you are willing to ship your cows or heifers.

Preferred Delivery Date: This is the last date your cattle will be listed as available on HerfNet.
